The Greenbird team is preparing for their next ice practice runs in early 2009, in Canyon Ferry Reservoir, Montana, USA followed by a run at the world record when ice & wind conditions come together for
best conditions.
The highest accurately (GPS) recorded speed for a wind-powered ice craft is 84 mph.
There are many higher, un-ratified claims from the early part of the 20th century, including a Guinness Book record of 143 mph in 1938 that some experts believe was impossible due to type of craft at that time.
Our own practice runs, combined with latest modifications, are giving us great confidence for the 2009 season and breaking the world record!
